In February 2025, Andrej Karpathy introduced a phrase that quickly captured a major shift in software development: vibe coding.
The idea was simple. Instead of writing every line of code yourself, you describe what you want, let an AI coding agent build it, test the result, and keep refining it through conversation.
Software development was moving from syntax to intent.
Tools such as Claude Code accelerated this shift. They were no longer limited to suggesting the next line inside an editor. They could inspect a repository, modify multiple files, run commands, execute tests, diagnose failures, and continue working until a task was complete.
